Grants and Networking Intern

Reports to: Internship Coordinator, Beka Hamlett-Leisen
Office site: Nonviolent Peaceforce Office, Minneapolis
Hour: 10 or more hours per week, including Friday intern meetings
Term Available: Fall 2008

Job Summary: Assist the Internship Coordinator in researching potential funding for the Internship Program, as well as other organizations that could support the Internship Program in nonfinancial capacities.

Responsibilities:
• Research potential grants, submit grant proposals and follow up
• Research organizations such as AmeriCorps, that may be able to provide interns
• Create a list of potential funders and supporters, along with application deadlines and relevant information
• Be the liaison between potential funders and supporters, and the Internship Coordinator
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
• Experience and ability with grant writing
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Good research skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work autonomously, very self motivated and proactive
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions well
• Ability to focus while in close proximity to others
• Commitment to the mission of Nonviolent Peaceforce
• A sense of personal responsibility

Helpful Qualities:
• Patience, persistence, commitment and a sense of humor
• Able to learn from successes and mistakes
